What Is a Fire Suppression System
& When Do You Need One?
A fire suppression system is an active fire protection system that automatically detects and extinguishes a fire without human intervention — and without using water. Unlike fire sprinkler systems that discharge water, suppression systems use gaseous clean agents or chemical agents specifically designed for environments where water would cause as much damage as the fire itself.
Fire suppression systems are required for server rooms, data centres, MDF rooms, electrical control rooms, commercial kitchens and any facility where water-based systems would destroy sensitive equipment, valuable assets or cause dangerous chemical reactions.
Under Malaysian fire safety regulations, buildings with server rooms, data centres and commercial kitchens must install an appropriate automatic suppression system as part of their fire certificate compliance.

FK5112 Clean Agent System

FK-5-1-12 (commonly written FK5112) is a fluoroketone clean agent — the active ingredient in 3M Novec 1230. It extinguishes fires by removing heat, leaves zero residue, is non-conductive and is safe for occupied spaces. Zero ozone depletion potential and a global warming potential of just 1 — the most environmentally responsible clean agent available.

FM200 Fire Suppression System
High-value assets · fast discharge
FM200 (HFC-227ea) is a widely used gaseous suppression agent that extinguishes fires through a combination of chemical and physical mechanisms — discharging in under 10 seconds. Cost-effective for medium-sized server rooms and control rooms where speed of suppression is critical.

Kitchen Fire Suppression System

Wet chemical kitchen suppression systems are specifically engineered for Class F fires involving cooking oils and fats.
